AUTO BIOGRAPHY OF MRS. SARAH CALEB MAKUT( V.P ACADEMIC AFGCS, JOS)


Mrs. Sarah C. Makut, a Nigerian and an indigene of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State was born on the 16th day of April, 1958. She started her Education at the St. Mathias Primary school Ganandaji southern Ropp, In 1965 where she obtained her Certificate of primary Education in 1971. Thereafter, she proceeded to women Teachers College, Katsina in 1972 and obtained the higher elementary (Grade two) teachers certificate in 1976.

In her quest for further education, she was admitted to the Ahmadu Bello University zaria (ABU) in 1980 to pursue a course leading to the Nigerian Certificate of Education (NCE). In 1989, she graduated with Bachelor of Education Degree, second class upper, in Home Economics at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria in order to fulfill her dreams of becoming an Administrator; she enrolled for her Master Degree in Educational Administration and planning at the University of Jos

.Mrs. Sarah C. Makut  went for other professional courses to enhance for skills in management. In 2001, she went for a course in Micro-Computing at the National Center for Economic management and Administration (NCEMA), Ibadan. She also attended a course on value, Skills and Productivity for teachers in the Ministry of Defence which was sponsored by Primrose African Limited in 2002. In 2003, she attended an intensive training programme for Federal Civil Servants on grade level 12-14 in collaboration with the office of Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

She has had quite a long but fulfilling career in the Civil Service. From 1976 to 1977, she was on the employment of the Plateau State Government as a School Teacher. Thereafter, she taught in command Children’s School Ikeja under the Nigerian Army Education corps from June 1977 to 1984, she was re-deployed to Command Children’s School Ikeja as Home Economics Teacher. From there she was moved to Command Day Secondary School Ikeja and elevated as Subject Head of Foods and Nutrition. In July 1991, she moved to Nigerian Airforce Secondary School Ikeja as Home Economics Teacher. She served for five years in that school and was posted to Airforce Secondary School Kaduna in October 1996.

The year 2000 marked a turning point in her career as she was posted to Headquarters, Nigeria Airforce camp Abuja as an Education Officer and later as Inspector of Education. Between September 2005 and March 2006, she served as an Inspector of Education, 330 Nigerian Airforce Station, Jos. In April 2006, she was appointed as Vice Principal, Academics in Airforce Girls’ Comprehensive School Jos. She is still serving here till date. At present, she is Chief Education Officer with the Ministry of Defence.

Mrs. Sarah C. Makut has worked like a Trojan. She has been able to accomplish so much over a period of three decades. She has been able to weather the storm in Education as a result of the training she had had from various Institutions.


Her hobbies include reading, cooking and travelling. She is happily married to Wing Commander C.S. Makut (RTD) and both of them are blessed with five children.
