BRIEF HISTORY
Air Force Secondary Schools Port Harcourt,was officially opened on the 14th January, 1991, with full academic work. The school opened with an initial student strength of 140 and a staff strength of 16 mostly from Air Force Primary School, Port Harcourt.
The School is located along Aba Road, Rumuomasi in NAF Special Operations Group, within the Air Force Base. The School is found two blocks of Junior and Senior Sections. In the Junior Section is found two blocks of classroom within which the counseling office and a staff-room are located. While the administrative block, thee Science laboratories, (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Home Economics) and blocks classrooms are found in the senior section.
Motto: The motto of the school is ‘PERSEVERANCE BREEDS SUCCESS’.
Mission: The School aims at providing a conducive teaching and learning environment with a view to attaining academic excellence.
Attention is also being paid to the objectives of the National Policy on Education for Secondary Schools some of which are:
a. The inculcation of right type of values and attitudes for the survival of the individual in the Nigerian Society.
b. The inculcation of national consciousness and national unity,
c. The training of the mind in the understanding of the world around.
d. The acquisition of appropriate skills abilities and competence both mental and physical, and equipment for the individual to live and contribute to the development of his/her society.
