The Air Force Comprehensive School Uyo was established in February 1999.  The school is managed by the Nigerian Air Force and has military and civilian instructors.  The civilian instructors are permanent staff employed by the Federal Civil Service Commission and posted to Ministry of Defence.  The school was established to prepare students for JSCE NECO, SSCE WASSCE and JAMB.  It is a co-educational school with boarding facilities for boys and girls

The school started with a population of 142 students in 1999.  Over the years the population has increased to about 495 students with able civilian teachers and non-teaching staff and personnel instructors.  Since inception till date, this great school has had 8 Commandants to man its affairs.  The pioneer Commandant being Wg Cdr KO Nwokike (Rtd).  The names of the past and present Commandants are as follows:
